iPhone X Lifeproof Case Models
Lifeproof has designed and developed three different lines of cases for iPhone X users:
- SLAM series
- NEXT series
- FRE series
For each line, we will share its pros and cons, its features, and our own rating of the product.
In the end, we will decide what the best iPhone X Lifeproof case is depending on these factors.
SLAM Series ($49.99)
The SLAM series is exclusively designed to protect your iPhone X from direct hits to the ground.
With this iPhone X Lifeproof case, your iPhone can be able to survive drops from heights that are 2 meters high (or 6.6 feet).
Features
The SLAM series is Lifeproof’s slimmest case design. Additionally, it is the most affordable of the three.
As previously mentioned, the SLAM series for iPhone X is drop-proof from heights up to 2 meters or 6.6 feet.
Besides that, it also reveals the iPhone X’s finish with its transparent shell. The case also shows off the iPhone’s sleek profile.
SLAM for iPhone X offers 4 different colors – Night Flash, Aloha Sunset, Lava Chaser, and Free Flow.
The Good
What’s good about the SLAM series is that the design keeps the ports and controls open, making your iPhone X seem as if there is no case that is protecting it.
Additionally, the design also works with the wireless charging.
The Bad
The case has no screen protector, so users must be extra careful. Additionally, the SLAM series is also not waterproof, dirt-proof, or snow-proof.
The buttons of the case are too stiff, making it hard to operate the phone. Also, the clear back makes it more prone to scratching and it can show smears more easily.
The Bottom Line
Our Rating: 3/5
Though the SLAM series offers a slim and attractive design that leaves your ports accessible, it also offers minimal protection for a relatively price.
NEXT Series ($79.99)
Aside from the SLAM cases, Lifeproof also developed the NEXT series of iPhone X Lifeproof case.
One difference between NEXT cases and SLAM cases is that NEXT cases are designed to be drop-proof, dirt-proof, and snow-proof.
Features
The NEXT series is very similar to SLAM when it comes to its features. It can also survive drops from 2 meters (or 6.6 feet).
The design accentuates the slim and sleek profile of the iPhone X. Besides that, it also has a transparent shell at the back that shows the color of your iPhone.
What differs NEXT from the SLAM series is that it has additional protection for the ports, microphone, and speakers.
NEXT cases by Lifeproof for iPhone X offers 4 different colors – Black Crystal, Beach Pebble, Seaside, and Cactus Rose.
The Good
The NEXT Lifeproof case for iPhone is dust-proof, dirt-proof, and snow-proof, offering additional protection for your iPhone X as compared to the SLAM series.
The design also makes your iPhone X slim and classy.
The Bad
Just like the SLAM series, the NEXT case also does not have a built-in screen protector. Users must be extra careful or they must buy an additional screen protector if they want.
Besides that, the NEXT case is not waterproof. For people who want a waterproof case for iPhone X, the FRE series (to be discussed later) is for you.
The Bottom Line
Our Rating: 2.5/5
The NEXT iPhone X Lifeproof case is too expensive for what it offers.
We don’t think that adding an extra USD 30 just for an additional shield to the iPhone X’s ports, mic, and speakers would be worth it, hence the low rating.
FRE Series ($89.99)
This series is similar to the Lifeproof case iPhone 8 edition. It has the same features such as being waterproof, dirt-proof, snow-proof, and dust-proof.
The FRE series is the most expensive out of the other iPhone X Lifeproof Case series.
Features
This case offers 360-degree protection for your iPhone X because of its built-in screen cover.
Besides that, the FRE Series case can be fully submerged to 2 meters (6.6 feet) for up to an hour.
FRE Series has 5 different colors for the iPhone X – Night Lite, Drop In, Wipeout, Chakra, and Banzai.
The Good
If you are looking for a waterproof case for iPhone X, the FRE Series is for you. Not only is it waterproof – it is also drop-proof, dirt-proof, and snow-proof.
Some people say that iPhones with waterproof cases tend to produce muffled audio. However, in the case of some reviews, the audio quality is actually excellent with the Lifeproof FRE case.
The Bad
According to a Lifeproof case iPhone X review on the FRE series, the iPhone X screen doesn’t look as clear as compared to it without a case.
Besides that, the rear camera flash is obscured. Pictures would seem to be over-lighted because the flash is reflected by the case and into the iPhone X camera.
The Bottom Line
Our Rating: 4/5
The best iPhone X Lifeproof case available in 2018 is the FRE series because of the overall protection it gives.
If your number one priority for your iPhone X is to give it protection, then you would have to sacrifice the problems with the screen and the camera.
Sure, the case is pricey, but it’s a good investment if you want to provide extreme protection for your iPhone X.

For sure, you would always take your iPhone X with you on these adventures to document the memories.
