iPhone Won’t Let Me Turn Off Passcode!
Let’s say that’s you; I hear you loud and clear!
Your iPhone might be grayed out when you go to turn off your passcode, disabling you from finishing. Often times, your iPhone just needs a reboot.
In other words, without hooking it up to your computer, force restart it and try again. If that still doesn’t work you may have placed restrictions on yourself without even knowing it.
In that case, try following the steps below.
Step 1:
Go to ‘Settings’ and scroll to ‘General’.

Step 2:
After clicking ‘General’, click ‘Restrictions’.
Step 3:
Enter your passcode.

Step 4:
Go to ‘Accounts’ and click ‘Allow Changes’.

Step 5:
If you want to disable restrictions entirely, you can click ‘Disable Restrictions’.

Step 6:
Go back to ‘Touch ID & Passcode’ and see if you are able to turn it off.
None of those things worked for me. All those choices are either greyed out or didn’t stop the passcode need. I need to turn off the passcode because when I get messages in the morning after rebooting my phone – I turn it off at night -, any messages that come in overnight, delete themselves as soon as I put in the passcode. I can see the number on my message icon, but it goes away as soon as I enter passcode. I do need to update my phone to ios 12.3.1, but I don’t have enough memory – another whole problem I guess. I would appreciate any help.
