What Is 3D Touch?
The 3D touch is based from the Force Touch technology developed by Apple. Essentially, the screens distinguish the various levels of force being applied to the screen surface.
The Force Touch technology uses pressure sensors to add another new method of input to your iPhone. The most commonly known gestures of the iPhone are swipe, tap and pinch.
But with the 3D touch, it introduces whole new gestures like peek and pop and much more. Also, that gives us a wide range of quick shortcuts and additional options.

Tips & Tricks On How To Use 3D Touch On iPhone
1. Quick Actions On Apps
The quick action only works on the app’s icon as it works as a shortcut to specific features of the app. Press and hold the app’s icon to view the features.
Take for example Messages app, you can jump to messaging directly the recent person you sent a message to without opening the app.
You can also click ‘New Message’ right away. The actions will depend on the app you applied the 3D touch on.
2. Peek And Pop Gesture
The peek and pop gesture happens inside the app. Tap lightly a link, picture, or folder, a hovering window will appear and you can take a peek on the content. Press it a little bit firmly and the entire content will pop in the screen.
Just like the Quick Actions, the Peek and Pop gesture varies depending on the app you are accessing. This is very useful when you do not want to totally open something and you just want to have a peek.
Finally, if you want to exit the peek action just lift your finger off of the screen.
3. Turn Your Keyboard Into A Trackpad
Turning the keyboard into a trackpad is personally a very useful feature for me. Especially when you are in the middle of typing a very long article and you misspelled a word.
What you will do is to get the cursor to that word so you can correct it, right?
Tapping the word will do just that, but sometimes you can’t just tap the right one and you might just lose your patience.
Well, turn your keyboard into a trackpad so you can go straight to the word you misspelled.
Press hard any of the letters on your keyboard and once the letters disappear, you can then control the cursor.
4. Multitasking Gesture
In older iPhones we all know that accessing the app switcher is to double tap the home button.
But there is another way to access the app switcher with the use of the 3D touch.
On the left side of the screen, just as where the screen and the bezel meet, press it firmly then drag the apps to the middle of the screen.
You will then see the apps you opened. Swipe left or right to navigate your way and choose the app you wish to visit again.
5. Live Photos Preview
Capturing a live photo is easy peasy! But not everyone knows how to view it on your Photos app.
For you to see the live action, select the live photo and press on it.
You will be amazed that the photo will start to move, thus, you can successfully viewed a live photos. Hurray!
The same can be done with live photos on the your lock screen wallpaper as well.

Did you ever wonder how to make those perfect illustrations, sketches and drawing on your iPhone? Well, thanks to the 3D touch feature, you get to achieve the perfect stroke, shades, colors and lines.
The more you apply pressure to your stroke the bigger or darker it gets. You will produce thinner or thicker lines depending on how much pressure you are applying.

7. Control Center Menus
You can access the Control Center in the iPhones 6s to iPhone 8 by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. With iPhone X to iPhone XS, you swipe from the top right corner of your screen.
But here is where the fun is, you can apply the 3D touch on the menus in the Control Center to see additional options.
For example, press Music a little bit harder and it will bring you to the music app you are currently listening to.
You will see options like pausing the song, adjusting the volume, moving forward to the next song and much more.
Another trick that you should know about is when you press harder the song icon it will bring you to the music app.
So, if you are playing a song from Spotify, performing the gesture will bring you to the app.
Another example is, if you press hard on flashlight in the Control Center you will then be able to adjust the brightness. The same goes with the volume button.
