When we got the first glimpse of the iPhone X, it looked so different that it was like saying goodbye to the old ones.
Sure, we had to get used to the absence of the home button, but it also came with some exciting new features! Packed with both upgraded features and new ones, there’s no denying that the iPhone X is a stunner.
With this huge revolution, there may be features that you can’t find right away. So in this post, I’ll be giving you 10 iPhone X features that you might not know about yet.
1. Waking Up the iPhone X
The most common way to wake your iPhone up is to physically lift it. Well, now there’s a new way! Just tap the screen and the device will come to life!
2. One-Hand Keyboard
Typing messages with one hand on older generations of iPhones has always been a challenge. And if you’re like me, screens are bigger and wider than my little hand can handle. But don’t lose hope because now there is a way to do that!
Steps for how to use the one-hand keyboard:
-
Go to Message.
-
Press on the globe/emoji icon.
-
Select your keyboard preference.
3. Animoji Stickers
Animoji was one of the highlighted new features of the iPhone X. It’s an animated emoji that mimics your every move. What you might not have known is when you don’t feel like sending an animated one, you can still send it as a customized sticker!
Step 1: Select A Character
Step 2: Make A Facial Expression
This is where you have fun! Touch and hold the Anomiji and drag it to the message to automatically send it.
4. Assistive Touch
Do you miss the home button? There is still a way for you to have a virtual and a customizable one.
Here are the steps:
-
Go to Settings
-
General
-
Accessibility
-
Assistive Touch
-
Enable Assistive Touch
5. Smart Invert
No longer will you have to blind your eyes looking at a bright screen at night. If you love to read ebooks and articles during the wee hours of the night, this feature is for you.
Steps For Enabling Smart Invert:
-
Go to Settings
-
Click on General
-
Click on Accessibility
-
Select Display Accommodations
-
Select Invert Colors and Enable Smart Invert
This option reverses the colors of the display, except for images, media and some apps that use dark color styles. This makes it easier for you to read with bright backgrounds.
6. Emergency SOS
With the commitment of creating a useful smartphone, Apple didn’t fall short. You can easily seek help from emergency agencies and alert your loved ones in an event of an emergency situation.
Command 1: Power Off Device
You can also access the Emergency SOS by holding down the side button and either one of the volume buttons. If you notice, this is also the same command as turning off your iPhone X.
Command 2: Click Side Button Five Times
This is also another way to access the Emergency SOS. However, you have to enable this command first in your Settings. Below is the quick guide on how to do it.
Step 1: Go to Settings
Step 2: Scroll down to Emergency SOS
Step 3: Enable “Also works with 5 clicks”
7. Taking Screenshots
While taking screenshots is not a new feature, there’s now a new way to do it since the home button is gone. Press the side and volume up button at the same time to grab a screenshot of your phone.
8. Attention Awareness For Face ID
With the new face ID, the chances of a stranger unlocking your phone has risen to one in a million. But what if I told you that there is another way to secure your iPhone X even more?
You can also enable attention awareness for Face ID! You need to be looking at your phone to unlock it as it scans your eyes. Talk about elevating your security.
Assuming you have already set-up your Face ID, below is a step-by-step guide on enabling Attention Awareness.
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Click Face ID & Passcode
Step 3: Enable Attention Awareness Features
9. Notification Preview
If you’re worried about people reading your notifications and messages, this feature is for you.
Step 1: Wake iPhone.
Click on the screen to wake iPhone. Notice the list of notifications and messages are in private.
Step 2: Look at Your Device.
This will unlock your iPhone, and the preview of the notifications and messages will show. There is no need for you to open them one by one just to see the message.
10. Alarm Off
Finally, when you want your alarm to turn off the moment you open your eyes, then this feature will be your go-to!
When your alarm is ringing, look at your phone and notice that the volume goes down and gets quieter. This is useful for those early mornings. The phone senses that you are awake and paying attention, so it quiets down itself.
